About the event

Lake Dye Inks Workshop!! Some of you may remember my collecting colours RADF grant project in 2020, in which I made 91 pigments and inks from plants and minerals in the Moreton Bay Region. This workshop is teaching you how to make, preserve and apply lake dye inks made from foraged plants.

Lake dyes are made by brewing plant matter to create inks using medieval techniques of basic preservation. Chelsea will teach the process of making ink from plants and participants will preserve, bottle, swatch test, set up a lightfastness test and learn about application of inks on watercolour paper. Each participant will have a bundle of tools set up for mixing and testing their inks at their work station.
